  1. Am I supposed to tip my therapist? 15-20% if it takes place in a spa or hotel.  If it takes place in a medical setting tipping isn't appropriate.  You can show appreciation by referring friends, family, and co-workers to the massage therapist.
  2. Should I undress completely? You should undress to your level of comfort.  Some people prefer to be nude, while others prefer to leave their undergaments on.  Your therapist should always have a cover over you for discretion
  3. What if I have to blow my nose during the session? This is very common.  Your therapist most likely has tissues nearby.  Don't be afraid to say you need one.
  4. Will the massage therapist be there while I undress? No.  They will leave the room.  You comfort and modesty is very important to your therapist.
  5. Can I talk during my massage? Some people do.  Some people don't.  Your massage therapist does not expect to be entertained by you.  Do whay makes you comfortable. That being said, there are times the therapist will need to communicate with you about pressure, temperature, positioning, and the need for a tissue.
  6. What if I get aroused or experience an erection during the massage?  Do not be embarrassed!  This is very common.  Your therapist will generally ignore it. 
  7. How do I know the clinic and the therapist are legitimate? Ask questions.  A legitimate massage therapist offers theraputic massage, with be certified, and licensed in the state of Georgia.  They may require a client intake form.  They will not come into contact with any of your "private areas" during the massage.
  8. I want more or less pressure.  What do I do? Communicate with your therapist. Typically on a pain scale of 1-10 your therapist is aiming to keep the pressure around a 7.  However everybody feels things differently.  Just remember the massage does not have to hurt to be effective.
  9. I have issues with certain areas of my body that keep me from being massaged.  Can I hide  these areas during the massage? Communicate these insecurities during the intake.  Your massage therapist needs to be aware of them in order to avoid these areas or use a different technique.
  10. Sometimes after a massage I feel lightheaded and nauseous.  What can I do about this? Take your time getting off the table.  There is no rush.  Remember to drink lots and lots of water.  It keeps your muscles supple and flushes the toxins out.
